22 March 2010 - SAVE THE CAÇADOR BASIN SP BRAZIL : Protecting water quality is a shared responsability for the commom benefit . We all live downstream and therefore protecting water sources from polllution is everyone responsabilitiy. it can not be left to public authorities alone. Clean water is life. To prevent pollution is cheaper.( UN-WATER, 2010).
The IGUASSU ITEREI Citizenship Movement Reference Center for Water, Forests and Mountains´ 2010 Water Day CELEBRATION gives focus to knowledge, to the civil participation, to the prevention and the precautionary essential principles to be addressed when dealing with challenges as the worldwide water scarcity, the importance of preventing and avoiding water pollution, the abrupt climate change, the current loss of biological diversity, and the concomitant lobbied global forces for flexibilization of the environmental laws and regulations, as says the IGUASSU ITEREI cordinator, the pedagogue Léa Corrêa Pinto .
The IGUASSU ITEREI 2010 Campaign is also a global virtual diffusion of the 2010 UN-WATER Brochure and of the civil society emblematic initiatives to save The Caçador Basin.
The 2010 Celebratin started on the 10 th March with the shooting for one of the Brazilian TV PROGRAM, showing the civil society statements inside the IGUASSU ITEREI Water, Forests, Mountains Citizenship Movement Reference Center based in-situ at the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest Peaks, among a threatened net of pure freshwater sparkling streams

From the Great Lakes to Puget Sound, from the Mississippi River to the Everglades, and from Chesapeake Bay to the Colorado – we can only protect the great waters of America if we safeguard the countless streams that feed them and the millions of acres of wetlands that help keep them clean. Perhaps that is why the Senate EPW committee rejected the spurious arguments of powerful polluters and instead voted to restore protections vital to America’s great waters. As its name indicates, the Clean Water Restoration Act does no more than restore the original scope of the Clean Water Act that our nation adopted some 37 years ago – to protect all the waters of the United States.
